Shaun JH Nightshade
I’ve been writing for a few years now. I guess that I’ve been making stories up almost as long as I could read. At first these were set mainly to play. Adventures with my favourite cars, cooking adventures with my plastic pots and pans and stories in my head when we visited old houses and castles.
I wrote loads of stories at school, most of them, I guess, based on books I’d read. In 2011, inspired by a school friend (Thanks Mai), I tried NaNoWriMo for the first time. Alas I failed at 25,000 words but the bug had hit me. In 2014 I won with 55,000 words and had 124,000 words in the bag the following year, although circumstances meant that I didn’t register at the end.
In 2013 (seems like a lifetime) I discovered a site for young writers called Movellas. Here I met like minded friends who encouraged me to write more and in that positive atmosphere I came alive, although looking back on the early stuff makes me embarrassed.
I guess I don’t have the drive to be a ‘real’ writer, but I enjoy the freedom writing gives my imagination. Writing gives me chance to bare my soul, tell the world who I am, all through the power of words.
Currently I’m working on two main stories Secret and Dark Water along with my as yet untitled NaNoWriMo story. These are released a chapter at a time and are aimed at the YA market.
